Large plastic pipe manufacturer in the North of England, replacing 11kW side channel blowers for vacuum conveying to new 5,5kW claw pumps.
The main manufacturing site in Doncaster was using the traditional method of two stage side channel blowers for vacuum conveying. The units pull a max flow of 500m3/h and a max vacuum of -430mbar(g). At max vacuum the flow is reduced to 275m3/h due to the steep nature of the flow curve
However, we have seen that this application can benefit from moving to a dry claw vacuum pump. In this case, Air Compressors and Blowers North provided the Elmo Rietschle VLR301. This unit provides a max flow of 290m3/h and max vacuum of -850mbar(g) when at the process required vacuum of -430mbar(g) the unit more than covers the flow on the counterparts side channel.
The shaft specific power consumption is virtually halved as a result of the change to a more suitable technology.
